Frequently Asked Questions

Last updated: March 2026

Common questions about ShipWeaver and customizing delivery options at Shopify checkout.

1. What is ShipWeaver?

ShipWeaver is a Shopify app that lets you customize how shipping and delivery options appear during checkout. You can hide, rename, reorder, and sort shipping methods based on cart contents, customer location, product tags, and more.

2. Does ShipWeaver change shipping rates?

No. ShipWeaver only changes how shipping options are displayed at checkout. It does not calculate rates, set prices, or integrate with carriers. Your existing shipping setup stays the same.

3. Where do my changes appear?

Changes apply in the Shopify checkout when customers select a shipping method. They do not affect the Shopify admin, orders, or any other part of your store.

4. What is Preview mode (Safe Test)?

Preview rules apply only to testers, not regular customers. Use them to test new rules safely before going live. Configure your tester email in the app; customers with that email or the shipweaver customer tag will see Preview rules. Everyone else sees only Active rules.

5. How do I test rules before going live?

Create a rule and set its status to Preview. Add your email in Tester configuration (or tag a test customer with shipweaver). Check out as that tester to see Preview rules. When satisfied, click Set to Live to make the rule Active for all customers.

6. How does rule priority work?

Rules run in priority order (lower number = higher priority). The first rule that matches a shipping option applies. If multiple rules affect the same option, the higher-priority rule wins. You can reorder rules in the app to change priority.

7. Why don't I see my changes in checkout?

Check that: (1) the rule is Active or Preview (not Inactive), (2) conditions match the current checkout (e.g. correct country, cart total), (3) rule priority is correct, and (4) rules have been synced. For Preview rules, confirm you're logged in as a tester.

8. How do I sync my rules to Shopify?

Rules sync automatically when you save, activate, or bulk-update them. Saving or deploying triggers a sync.

9. Can I use templates?

Yes. ShipWeaver offers templates to get started quickly. Choose a template (e.g. "Free shipping over $X", "Hide Express for PO Box") and customize it for your store. Templates are a shortcut; you can always create rules from scratch.

10. What is the difference between Standard and Cart & line attributes?

When creating a rule, you choose which conditions to use. Standard gives you address, cart, product tags, collections, variant SKU/title, and delivery option data. Cart & line attributes gives you cart attributes (e.g. gift wrap) and line item attributes. Pick the type that matches your conditions.

11. Can I duplicate a rule?

Yes. Use the duplicate action on any rule to create a copy. The copy starts as Inactive. Edit it as needed and activate when ready.

Actions

Actions define what ShipWeaver does to shipping options at checkout.

Hide specific shipping methods

Hide delivery options whose titles match your criteria (by full or partial match).

Example: Hide "Express" and "Overnight" when the cart total is under $50.

Hide all paid shipping methods

Hide every paid option, leaving only free shipping visible.

Example: Show only free shipping when cart is over $75.

Show only specific shipping methods

Keep only the delivery options that match your criteria; hide all others.

Example: Show only "Standard" and "Express" for domestic orders; hide international options.

Remove duplicates by keyword

When multiple options share a keyword, keep one and hide the rest.

Example: If "Standard USPS" and "Standard UPS" both appear, keep the first and hide the duplicate.

Hide duplicates automatically

Automatically detect and hide duplicate shipping options with identical or near-identical names.

Example: Remove "Ground Shipping" when it appears twice from different carriers.

Sort by price (ascending or descending)

Reorder all delivery options by cost, lowest or highest first.

Example: Sort by price ascending so the cheapest option appears first for California customers.

Sort by name (A–Z or Z–A)

Reorder delivery options alphabetically by title.

Example: Sort A–Z to show "Economy" before "Express" before "Standard".

Reorder shipping method(s)

Move specific methods to the top, bottom, or a custom position relative to another method.

Example: Move "Express" to the top for customers in NY, NJ, and CT.

Rename specific shipping method

Replace the display name of matching delivery options.

Example: Change "Priority Mail" to "Standard Delivery".

Append text

Add a suffix to matching delivery option titles.

Example: Append " (3–5 days)" to "Standard Shipping".
